Practice
Here are some photos of my 7 and 6 year old daughters practicing to become beekeepers. I had some small mating nucs I made and haven’t put them to use yet, and Isla and Avery wanted to play beekeepers.

placing my hand in entrance and no stings
Even after banging and ripping off the entrance, this colony remained gentle.

This was the first video looking into the cavity up towards the start of the comb. The still photos in a previous post taken after this video shows excellent comb and the bees

Another tree, another colony
I went and investigated another tree that is home to what seems like a very large colony. Monday, I’m going to bring out a chainsaw or reciprocating saw and find out just how big the colony is….how far up the tree cavity they fill. This colony is among the getelist colonies I have come accross, I did smoke them first, but even after ripping the opening larger for a better look and after smashing it with a hatchet, (which did no goo), the bees did not offer to sting not one time. I was very impressed and delighted to find such a delightful colony. Prepare for some wonderful photos, and in the subsequent postings excellent video of the tree and the bees flying around.

We are a beekeeping business, located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. This is our first year in New Mexico, and we will be re-building around June and July our Apiary. All of our Florida bees remained in Florida. Look for posts in the comming months.
Wallace Family Apiary, a small family beekeeping business, proud to be relocated to New Mexico. We enjoy outdoors and nature, working with the bees, building our own equipment, sharing our experiences to others who may just be starting out in beekeeping (New Bees), and Honey….We love honey. More on the beekeeping blog: This beekeeping Blog, is an enjoyment for me and my family….from time to time, different family members will contribute to this blog. When I started writing this it, I wanted to share how I got into beekeeping, a chronological detail of how I arrived where I am today, and what I hope to accomplish as a beekeeper (actually I hope to one day be a commercial beekeeper….full time beekeeping). In between my chronological account, I also give current updates of what’s going on in my day-to-day beekeeping chores/management. I want to let you, the reader, know that I have horrible grammatical skills, so please forgive my grammatical errors. So, that is us in a nut shell and this is our diary of sorts, of us as a beekeeping family.
